Meet The Barkery Team

Head Chef

April

I am known as the "mad scientist", always making up new recipes and creations with of course punny names. I am originally from Texas and have lived many places in the U.S. and abroad. I now call Charleston my home with my husband and son. My professional background is in cake decorating but I have worked in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years.  I love coffee, traveling, laughing with my teammates, participating in anything creative, and being involved at my church.

I love coming to work to say "hi" to everyone who stops by! I have lived in a lot of places, but Charleston is my favorite. If I'm not at work I like to go for bike rides, play with pets, and watch movies.

I have one dog, named Sunshine, and a mischievous fluffy kitty, named Charlie, at home.

I love hanging out with the shop dogs and saying hi to any pups stopping by. I love my cat Callie and snuggling with her at home. I also love being creative, reading, and making jewelry or soaps! I hope to have my own shop one day! I love spending time with my family, especially at the beach. My favorite part about working at Michael's Barkery is practicing my cake decorating skills!

My favorite thing to do at work is to weigh and bag the dog treats and press dough into molds. I like to work hard and keep active. I also work at Tropical Smoothie and participate in many camps and social clubs. My favorite sport is basketball. I also like to watch movies, read books and go to the beach. My go-to meal is a cheese burger and sprite!

When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family on a boat, watching TV, and playing video games with my friends. I love dogs and cats. My favorite food is pizza!

Kelsey

Hi I’m Kelsey, the job coach at Michael’s Barkery! I was a teacher for ten years and am now having an awesome time working with the teammates here. I have learned so much about pet treats, baking, and cake decorating! My dog, Ari, loves being a shop dog during the week and kayaking or shark tooth hunting with me on the weekend. I am so happy to be here!
