Meet Our Grooming Staff

General Manager / Groomer

Caroline

Caroline is the General Manager of Michael's Barkery and has been with us since our grand opening in 2019. She has been in the pet care industry since 2011. Her career started as a kennel technician, but she moved into management quickly after. She has managed different pet care businesses in Gwinnett and Atlanta that featured day care, boarding, training, in-home care, and grooming. She has become an experienced pet groomer since learning in 2014. With her many years of experience, Caroline finds great joy in working with many different breeds. Her two dogs, Inka & Nova (Siberian Huskies), and her rabbit, named Bunny, bring her so much happiness in her personal life.

Groomer

Neely

Neely originally hails from North Carolina. She began her career working at a doggy daycare, then for the Charleston Animal Society before pursuing her certification as a dog trainer. After three years of training dogs, Neely began her grooming apprenticeship here at Michael's Barkery in 2022 and is now a full time groomer.

Neely is a proud owner of two rescues, a four-year-old Siberian Husky named Arya, and a year-and-half-old Tuxedo Cat named Steve.

Jenna

Jenna is a local from the Charleston area and went to school to be a Veterinary Technician before discovering her passion for grooming. She began as a dog bather in 2009 and quickly advanced to begin her training as a groomer. She specializes in terrier breeds, such as Schnauzers, West Highland White Terriers (Westies), and Scottish Terriers (Scotties). She also loves working breeds as well, like Great Pyrenees, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Rottweilers. 

 

She enjoys spending her at home time with her 2 cats. She has a 13 year old Manx Cat named Tala and a 5 year old Domestic Short Haired cat named Tamsin.

Groomer

Liz

Ever since Liz was young her passion in life was to help animals that are in need. She attended school in Athens, GA for veterinary technology while working for a veterinary hospital in 2015, where she discovered her enjoyment of assisting grooming pets. The hospital recognized her skill at grooming, so she was promptly trained and certified as a professional dog groomer. She specializes in breed specific cuts like Irish Setters, Golden Retrievers, Schnauzers, and Shih tzus. Outside of work, Liz enjoys spending time with her son and family. She also loves riding her horses, taking her dogs on long walks, and hiking in the mountains. Her 2 horses are named Zola and Classy, her dog’s name is Lily, her bunny is named Harley and she also has 3 fish.

Assistant Manager

Chris

Chris has worked at the barkery since 2022. He is originally from Oklahoma, but now that he lives on Daniel Island he rarely ever leaves it. You can always see him around the island with his two favorite girls, Dixie (mix breed)  and Fergie (beagle).

Groomer

Lexi

Lexi started her career as a doggy daycare manager before beginning her dog grooming journey. She moved to Charleston in 2021 with her husband, who is active duty Airforce. With her positive attitude, she is always ready to make sweet pups look and feel their absolute best,  Her favorite dog breed to work with is the Shih-Tzu, whom she feels is quite adorable, amiable and enjoyable to style.

 

Lexi is a proud owner of three dogs; Mika, a Husky mix, Hoss, a Staffordshire Terrier, Monty, a French Bulldog, and one orange Siberian cat named Leo to keep the gang in check.

Groomer

Dana

A proud born and raised local Charlestonian, Dana has a fun loving spirit that adds a tremendous amount of positivity to Michael’s Barkery. She jokes that she has been “getting paid to love dogs since 2017”. She has dedicated her life to ensuring all dogs in her care receive the best care and attention. As a fear free certified dog groomer, Dana focuses on gentle handling and compassionate care, always advocating for the well-being and best interests of her furry clients. Grooming is her passion, but she says she has also found peace and balance through yoga and spending time outdoors near the salt water.
